The watermelon described here has many seeds in small fruits adapted for short summers. My understanding is that the seeds were valued as much as the fruit. These are believed to have been introduced from Spanish trading centuries ago. www.furtrade.org/4heirg.htmlOil from seeds has been valued in cooking.
