Cornishwoman,
I'm not an expert on Tom's breeding lines, however, here are a few that should be promising based on the little that I know. Your climate is hot and humid like mine here in North Alabama.

Thanks Fusion, yup we are humid and sticky here during the summer.Alabama, pretty state,I went on a fishing trip there at" lake point park", many years ago,I have the patience but not the skill regards fishing. Thanks for suggesting those seeds,I'm definitely going to try at least 2 of them,I'm wondering if they will produce seed pods so in turn I can save seeds.I gather you can graft a vine onto a tomato plant in order to get spud seed,Im going to try that.

Do you ship seeds overseas? I see the option "Ship outside U. S.", but when I pick any other country "Shipping and handling" changes to $0.00 and this should mean you do not ship outside US?

Do you ship seeds overseas? I see the option "Ship outside U. S.", but when I pick any other country "Shipping and handling" changes to $0.00 and this should mean you do not ship outside US? We foot the bill for shipping as long as the total is at least $6. If it's under $6 we ask for a whole dollar. The only catch with overseas sales is that we make no guarantee that it will get past your customs. Although probably, it will. Remember you get some free seeds in consideration for the Cucurbita ficifolia you sent (the fruit is still sitting in my basement, still looks very good. They might not be particularly tasty but man they do keep--and they are beautiful. Someone should work on them). I'll ask Tom to send some free potato seeds and this time make sure he knows that flavor is a high consideration. I'll see about throwing in some squash if I have some that you don't--though your squash lists are often formidable. Or maybe you need some Kale? I have a fresh batch of Western Front Kale I haven't listed yet but will shortly. It was bred by Tim Peters, who posts here sometimes. We also have some spring xTriticale not listed yet. It's a mix, that will need to be grown out and selected. Some people are skeptical of xTriticale but I think it is quite useful. Makes a good substitute for whole wheat pastry flour, and is probably quite a bit higher in protein.

Great! You should add this info, because it's a bit confusing now. I'll ask Tom to send some free potato seeds and this time make sure he knows that flavor is a high consideration. Yes, flavor always is a high consideration , but I could not ask for this, especially when I already see on the site seeds with tempting descriptions.

>>Yes, flavor always is a high consideration , but I could not ask for this, especially when I already see on the site seeds with tempting descriptions. It is with you, but it's not always in general. In any number of countries you're going to get potatoes that are a tad "exotic" for "western" tastes. Sometimes too there are other considerations, like what people in various countries do with them, that impacts their suitability for other purposes. Plant more than you need and bear in mind that potatoes tend to be outbreeders so be prepared to rogue out any off-types. They also have naturally lower germination than tomatoes, because they were never bred for losing their germination inhibitors to deal with seasonal factors and staggering seed germination as insurance against bad weather. You plant them roughly the same time as you would tomatoes, in similar conditions, though potato seedlings are smaller and more delicate than tomato seedlings, but on the other hand grow a little cooler. Which is not to say you should keep them cool, so much as to say that their tolerances on the high end are a little lower. Hope you enjoy whatever you end up with.

They must be super busy, as I have not had my questions answered here or on their site. I take that back, I had one question answered. But not the main one, which is, where are the order forms for people that only want to pay with a check and don't have pay pal and don't want to deal with it? Or people that don't use credit cards? I did place an order but had to have a friend do it on his card, not a practice I like to do.

Darth, I'm waiting also. I asked basically the same questions did along with how to place an order for seeds not listed with a buy button. I got a nice reply from Tom saying he had the varities. Just waiting now for info from Rob on how to order and pay for them.

... where are the order forms for people that only want to pay with a check and don't have pay pal and don't want to deal with it? Or people that don't use credit cards? In their case I do not see how this will work. For example on 18th they added some new tomato seeds, 2 days latter (i.e. yesterday) most of them are sold out. Though it's not listed yet on the site, I have tried to order some tomato seeds and Paypal rejected most of them as unavailable, so I will wait a bit more if they add new varieties. I mean until the order arrives to them most of the seeds will be out of stock and this for sure will lead to disappointment, and that's not good for the business . I suppose you do not use a credit card because it's not so safe and I completely agree. Because of that I'm using not a credit, but a debit card (in my case Visa Electron). It's MUCH safer! When you plan to buy something go and deposit money as needed and pay the same day (though in my case it's not always that way). Also there is no monthly fees for the card. Most sites accept such cards, Paypal too. Though there are some sites (Richters for example) which accept only credit cards. For such cases I have unusual Visa credit card, which actually is a debit card - I can pay only if I deposit money, so it just like a debit card. The monthly fee for this card is a bit under $3.

I got a reply back yesterday and sent my order and payment off today. Hopefully they will have what I ordered.
I don't use a credit card or a debit card online for one reason. I'm one of those people who if it can go wrong it will for me. I had a verified account with an major online credit card company. To be verified you had to give them your bank routing number, ect. I got a call one day at work from my bank to ask me about some charges that had been made to my checking account. Over $1,800.00 worth. Shortly after I got a call from an investigator for the FDIC if I remember correctly. I canceled my verified account and quit buying online with credit cards. Not long afterwards I got a debit card because so many said it was safe. Had a similar experience with it. So now I try to pay with a check. I try not to use credit cards much if any as I've seen too many people get into trouble using them. I only buy if I have the money in the bank to write a check for the purchase. Basically it is my personal decision. Jay

And a very understandable decision Jay. I would point out that you can still get in trouble with checks. All someone needs is the routing and acct number and start writing and cashing.
Someone I know once applied for and got a chevron gas card in my name then quit paying for it. It did not take long to figure out who once I got the card issuer on the phone. That constitutes fraud and impersonation and identity theft and can get someone 5 to 15 years hard time.

"Open Source Seeds, that these are never to be patented, registered, or sold to seed companies."
What a breath of fresh air to see that !

Jay, I sent a check, from my bank, for an order last year. Guess what happened? The postal service returned the check to me because they couldn't find Tom's address. Was that a one time only event? OH no! That's happened to me several times. The addresses are correct on the envelope, they are computer printed so no handwriting to decipher, just plain human ignorance.
ANYway... I've ordered both seed AND seed taters this year. Now, I have a couple questions, naturally enough. 1. Are the taters grown from seed more likely to produce seed? 2. I've been told that I shouldn't bother trying to save seed taters due to disease issues, do you agree with this? 3. Should I start the seeds inside or should I direct sow them?
