Red velvet cake is coming and so are espresso brownies. I'll need to pick up 16 oz of cream cheese for the frosting which I'll make there.
Pray for the shrimpers tomorrow! That's when I off to the landing to see if we can pick up some tasty tidbits from the sea!
Garnet, will he have to be involved all day?

Oh my god, I see a caffine high followed by a paralyzing carb induced coma headed my direction! Not JUST any ol' "carb induced coma"... An SE carb induced coma!!!! ;D Just got the starter fed to make some more bread. But this batch will go mostly to the shrimp man and the lady who will be kenneling our puppy dog. It's good to trade! Make sure the butter is room temp! OH! I know what I want to do IF at all possible... my boys as well... Are there any cows, goats, or sheep we could milk?

Jo, no not around here. We have friends who are dairy farmers, but you can't milk in a situation like that. I don't know of anyone with milk goats right now, used to have goats but not anymore. Capriole Farms is not far from here, in Greenville-they make some nationally recognized cheeses, but I don't think they do tours, but they do have a farm store to buy.

Yea, "normal" dairy set up isn't gonna be interested in having us around. That store sounds like a totally excellent substitute though! HINT HINT How far away is it? My butt is gonna be crawling up my back by the time we get there tomorrow. I won't be in a hurry to drive a long distance... But I sure do like "special" shops!

Capriole Farms makes great goat cheeses. I have had several different varieties - including a chocolate goat cheese! Don't worry they also have plain and more traditional varieties if that does not appeal to you (it is very yummy though..). They have a booth at the Bloomington market if any one is going there on the way up to Alan's. Does anyone want fresh basil (Italian) to cook with? I have several bushes...in fact they are starting to flower. Jo - do you want me to bring fresh little sweet tomatoes and tomato purée for ketchup? It won't be enough for your recipe though I just got done baking loads of chocolate chip cookies. Some have baker's semi sweet chocolate..others have British Cadbury (no not the domestic Hershey's version) milk chocolate. I baked some dark..as in carbon edges dark. The espresso brownies sound heavenly..heck the entire menu sounds scrumptious. I am going to have to take some stuff home!!! Cooperstown, NY sounds great for next year's meet. I grew up in NYC so that location presents a huge temptation to run down to the city. Now I just have to start saving my moolah.......

I've just printed out the last map. I'm packing clothes and going to bed. We'll be up at about 4 a.m. to finish the last minute packing and leave by 6 a.m.
I didn't get the grapes snipped today, I'm gonna try to do in in the a.m. Garlic is coming though.. seed garlic that is. Do we need cooking garlic or do you guys have some? See ya SOON!

Unfortunately, an unforeseen event has arisen. Randel is very ill and can't travel. I can't drive that long, so it's a no-go for me. I was hoping to make next year's meet, but if it's in NY, that's highly unlikely.

Johno - Sorry that yoiu and Randel can't make it! Hope Randel gets better quick. Maybe we need to plan a swap in your neck of the woods sometime..... Jo - don't worry about the tomatos and ketchup project...just get here safe and sound. I am only 45 min away from Karen's so it is no big deal to decide things last minute. I don't have lots of garlic in my pantry.....but I can pick some up if need be. Grouper and shrimp....sounds heavenely. Flowerpower - I grew up in Brooklyn primarily: Flatbush (Marlborough Road off Church Ave)...later Cobble Hill (Clinton between Kane & Degraw) followed by a brief stint in Manhattan (mom remarried briefly)- Upper East side 52nd street between 1 & 2nd Aves....than back to Cobble Hill a few blocks down Clinton St from our old place. I left NYC when I was about 22 (around 1992 or so). My dad used the family to Staten Island on the ferry...mainly for the subway and ferry rides ha ha. Later on, I took horseback riding lessons at Clove Lake stables...wow what a beautiful park those stables were located in! Like being in the country almost. Aside from that, I did not get over to Staten Island much - my loss! Where in Staten Island did you grow up? My mom had some friends south of the Catskills..closer to the Shawangunk mountains, in a little hamlet called Cragsmoore...which is near Ellensville. We used to spend summers up there and briefly rented a house for one of them. Beautiful countryside...parts of it reminded me of Ireland. Sorry for getting off topic

OH NO!!!!! I am so so sorry that you won't be able to make it, we were really looking forward to meeting you. Things happen though, so I totally understand. Everyone around here right now is having stuffiness trouble with the ragweed, and no rain, everything is dry as dust. Looks like a dust bowl when the farmers are in the fields harvesting. Hope Randel is feeling better soon. My husband got out the atlas to look up Cooperstown.....

Karen, if you and Mike do decided to go next year, Kim and I would be more than willing to pitch in on road money ext. if we could ride along. Ohio is as far "East" as I have ever made it. Sad right?
