This has nothing to do with gardening, but i wanted to share it. I just finished building my own DIY Taffy Pulling Machine, using some 1/4" metal, a few motors, some self designed gears (which really aren't needed if i decide to use the second motor), and an old soap bucket for the base chassis and style points. lol. I posted a quick post about it on my blog.
I haven't tried making taffy yet, since i just finished it, but i think it will work great.

PatrickW: What's up with locking the Cultural loss thread?
Jun 27, 2015 14:48:34 GMT -5
rowan: I guess it was locked because it really has nothing to do with this forum.

Joseph Lofthouse: I locked the "Cultural Loss" thread because I thought that it was off-topic. This is a forum about gardening, farming, homesteading, hunting, mushroom growing, plant breeding, land, and the farmers, homesteaders, and hunters that post to the forum.

MikeH: Soapbox says "Got something to rant about? Feel free, but play nice." A periodic off-topic post isn't a big deal. Locking topics that are not offensive is. Pls add a sticky so that I don't follow steev into the bushes again. LOL

PatrickW: I don't necessarily agree, but I can respect the fact that the forum has a policy and a decision was made. It would help a lot if when you locked a thread, you put a brief statement at the end of it explaining the reason.

PatrickW: Even nicer would be if you tried just politely asking first...

Joseph Lofthouse: Part of the reason that this forum is so pleasant to visit is because it is moderated. I delete off-topic messages most days.

Joseph Lofthouse: I typically just delete off-topic posts. Leaving a message that I did so is like poking a hornet's nest with a stick. In this case, it was a token of respect to the participants in the "Cultural Loss" thread that I locked it instead of deleting it.

steev: MikeH; That was you following me into the bushes? Good thing I don't go packing like Joseph; I thought it was a bear. BTW, you didn't think that topic was offensive? Wow! I try so hard; what a let-down.
