Hi Tim. You send me some seeds from crosses you made of Bloody Butcher and also a cross of Neve Azores x Eva Purple. I ended just saving that last one because it was a beautiful tall plant, no disease at all, the ~4in round red fruit was crack resistant and beautiful plus very good taste...but was not as early as the crosses you made of Bloody Butcher (those cracked, not saved)
I am growing seeds of F2 and if you have not name it yet, can I name it "Oxbow Red Neva" ?

Hey Wendy,
Please name it whatever you'd like. I actually have never grown the NARXEPB since I made the cross. I have a bunch of them started this year because you said it worked well for you last year. My tomato breeding is aimed at finding good F1 hybrid crosses so I don't actually intend to take them out to stabilization. It should definitely start segregating for pink/red and for fruit shape. There will almost certainly be some pinks in the F2, and some flattened/fasciated fruits.

Tim,
Did you like NAR x EPB? The F2 seed gave me dark pink not red and more variation in size. Anyway my husband said F1 was better taste (your original seed).

Hi Wendy,
Yes I liked the NAR X EPB. I am re-crossing the lines to make more F1 seed so if enough of them take I'll send you some more F1 seed as well. I'm surprised no reds showed up. How many plants did you plant? Some of the flavor difference may have been due to weather, since it has been so much colder on average this summer than last.

There must be red somewhere, I got 4 plants, some are just blushing now. First plant to ripe was pink tomatoes. Colder weather here at night too~!
