Warming up here, high 40 s today and supposed to go warmer next few days. I don't think the way it used to be is in anyway indicative anymore. Generally in the last ten, fifteen years or so February has been our coldest.

we went from about -37C a week or so ago to -2 yesterday, it felt like summer! It's supposed to be easing back down to the usual seasonal temps of around -20 or so next week. It's the wind that's the killer though, if we don't get wind with it it's not so bad. As they say, it's a dry cold...but with a wind... all bets are off.

It's been clear and sunny, mostly ~60F days; a tad drier than optimal for the season, but we're >NTD rainfall in the East Bay; things having been warmer than optimal, the snow-line on the Sierra Nevada is 1-2K" higher than normal; that doesn't bode well for storage, although the soil is very nicely moist, at the moment, but it bodes ill for the dry season, if there is little snow-pack for slow-release. It's a tad problematic when you've a Mediterranean climate and all your (new) water comes from Winter rain; of course, one might pump out the ancient aquifer, but, like youth, once it's gone, it ain't coming back.
There was snow on the highest western peaks from the farm, but less than in good years; rain on the farm is maybe less than average; don't know whether I'll be confident in planting much area, nor setting the riega on auto, yet. These things would be much less iffy, were I on the farm more to monitor things, but I can't be; tant pis.
