Amazingly mild headed into February here - light rain around Philly tonight.

Maybe a back-cross to watermelon might help. "All" you need is 40 acres to screen for good things!

Whenever a new catalog arrives, I peruse it, marking items of interest, not that I'm buying this year, too many other expenses. I've been marking catalogs for years and years too. For better or worse, it's a lot less expensive than ordering . . .

There are several in the US I would like to order from from - I'm waiting to hear from Carol Deppe as the exchange rate is a killer and if she isn't selling seed this year then getting money exchanged is a waste of money and time...
Unfortunately, until you hear from folks that have received seeds from Carol Deppe, hold off on sending in that check. She apparently hasn't shipped much in the past few years due to health and other issues.

We're back in the mid-20s near Philly! Sleet on the way . . . Winter seems back for a bit.

These are real concerns. Too much variety has been lost, and too many more lines are not being actively grown out and maintained. The best we can do is share widely and try maintain diversity in as many ways as we can.

68F today near Philadelphia, one degree warmer than yesterday. Feel the urge to plant peas but am pretty sure it is too early

Good to see you posting again, squishysquashy ! Hope all is well with your enterprise! Unfortunately, lots of folks have had issues getting seeds from Carol and it sounds complicated. You may be able to locate someone growing the line who has saved seed, but these seem remarkably difficult to source (and you are not the only person looking for it).
Hopefully you will be successful and then share them further so they aren't lost!

I'm sure I have some seed from that grow-out. Drop me a pm with your address and I'll be glad to send you some!

flowerbug , Have you grown Alan Kapular's Sugar Magnolia? I haven't tried them for dried peas but the young pods were great and the plant is amazing to look at.
