Everything is looking great. Garlics doing well. Good luck on getting seed. Hopefully all your bad luck was spent on the thistles me squash bugs. I had them last year and they are a pain. I used a soap and water mixture. I want to say that it was a few drops in a spry bottle. It worked pretty well. Also I've heard that diatomaceous earth works great. I haven't tried it though

So I got some more pictures today. This is from the cloves of the TGS grown plant that formed a scape last year. The flowers are starting to age and wither from competing with the bulbils This is from the TGS grown plant that did not form a scape last year. It's timeing is much later Here is both of them in the small narrow patch that they were in This should be German Brown but I would have to check my notes. It's at about the same stage as Chesnok Red. I'm happy to see some purple but no where near as many reed's Hoosier Homestead is doing well. More purple flowers and more of them too. This one is Spanish Roja. I was very surprised to see as many flowers as they have. Here's another picture of chesnok red. The umbels are ready to be cut for sure. I have a few with a twisted scape like this. Also I'm very embarrassed to show the weed. But figured I'd rather share the little I have growing. I will be weeding the garden I put in. This is not normal for me lol.

I was also very close to pre diabetic too,but not now. I reckon now i wouldn't have much more than a single teaspoon of added sugar a day, mostly of my weekly carbs would come from beer which i like to have a couple of on a late Saturday afternoon. As a family we dont buy bread but make our own from local organic grown grain and my grown corn that i stone grind, i know grains a loaded with carbohydrates but the old varieties of grains are a better form of carb than heavily refined modern grains. Yes they are. I have read stories of people with celiac disease going to Eastern Europe and eating bread and such in small towns and it having no affect on them. Modern grains have more complexed carbs verses older grains having simple carbs from what I understand. The body breaks down and stores them different.

I agree about the diet thing. Most the time they fail. The carb thing is more of a lifestyle for us. 20 a day is to loss weight. 100 a day is for maintenance. The big thing for me is that I felt so much better. With low carbs my mind was clearer, I could focus better, I was never blotted, my sinuses were clear, I got to sleep better, I also didn't wake up tired, my energy lasted longer, and everything tasted better. I remember that I had a drink of pop and it was horribly sweet. I spit it out. I just felt better all around. I think it has a lot to do with sugar too. Low carb means very low sugar. I think that has been our issue getting back on it. I've read several times that sugar is one of the most addictive substance. More so than most drugs. That's what makes the first week so hard- your like detoxing off sugar. You just crave everything sweet. After that it's pretty easy to stay away from the high carb stuff. It honestly just taste bad after awhile. 20 a day is really hard to maintain but 100 isn't too bad. It's just the way you eat and you don't really think about. It's not for everyone but it great for people that are pre diabetic or have PCOS which my wife has. So it works for us at least when we are on it lol.

I'm with you on the carbs. My wife and I stayed under 20 a day for a few months. We both lost about 30 pounds and felt great. Essentially no sugar with that diet too so everything tasted better and sweeter. We just ate meat, eggs, veggies, and did I say bacon? Lots and lots of bacon. Then the holidays came and we fell off the wagon. Still haven't been able to get back on. We've been trying though. I did miss fruit. We did eat it but I couldn't make a meal out it any more lol.

The lovely pink colour of the flowers is something i dont see with the flowers i get, i wonder why? It might be the lighting bc I took the picture at dusk. I will say all of the others are darker purple if I remember right. I will have to look and compare next time I'm out there

Well today I decided to brave the 2' tall grass to check on the garlic. Still trying to decide when I should harvest it and how I'm going dry and store it without making the apartment smell like garlic. It's doing well despite not being weeded. I was happy to see lots of flowers on most of them. Chesnok red had the most by far. The TGS bulbils didn't do well. They died down a month or so ago. The cloves from the TGS plant the scaped last year are doing well. Not as large a chesnok red but the scapes are at the same stage. The cloves from the TGS plant that did not scape last year is smaller than all of them but is producing scapes. They are just starting to open. All of the other bulbils (German Brown, Spanish Roja, and reed's Hoosier Homestead) that were planted are doing well and all have open scapes. They are bigger than the 3rd year TGS plants. I want to say all have purple flowers, which is a good sign as far as TGS, but they are way less in number. The bulbils on those are much larger and farther along. I as think the scape opened much sooner. I didn't get pictures of any these but wish I did.

Well I have yet another one. This one is a tree. Any idea? Sorry I'm not very good with identity plants from pics on the internet. These two are the same plant And these two are of a bigger one. Also we got a completion date from our builder. Looking like September 29 they will be done. Can't come fast enough!

Never seen Nanking bush cherries here, they look like they dont get that tall. I don't think they do but if I remember right they make a good wind break. I thinking about putting some in at the new place as a wind break for fruit trees.

Have tried downloading the tapatalk app on a smart phone? That's what I have been using. When you post photos they size it to large medium or small for you and also host. Makes it really easy. You just select add photo and scroll through your library and select. It's also really easy to read the forums. You can even follow treads and you will get notifications then there is a post.

I have found that winter sowing works really well. Also I just keep the TGS seeds in the fridge after they are died and collected. They also tend to sprout once its warmer in mid to late spring as opposed to early spring like peas.
