lavendulagirl... intriguing. I don't think it would take much convincing for my husband. Oh and the pumpkin looks positively regal.

It is excellent. I started by a one not fully ripen and even there it beat the crap out og=f pepos, , which will be grown for summer squash from now on, with the excetion, MAYBE of Thelma Sanders, both or its beauty and when I need just a little squash for a recipe etc... Musquée is also excellent raw with or without a dip. You can easily serve it in a plate with carrots, cauliflower, broccoli and so on. It might very well be the first in the plate you'll have to replace, as it is both crunchy and tender. There is another one I'll grow, it is called ''JAMBON DE HONGRIE'' ( Hungariam Ham) and also ORANGE. My friend Patrice from www.lasocietedesplantes.com/?p=p_4tells me it is the best squash he had in his life. Being the supplier of the most celebrated restaurant in Canada, I'll take it to his word. But, Elizabeth, we are definitely in the nec plus ultra here, no doubts about it.

Oups! I forgot. I'd say 6 or so per plant plus the ones I got rid of by whacking ( EDITED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY) the stems because it was invading the planet...

'Suburban' yes, but a larger than average lot, with provincially protected wildlife area behind and a village easement beside so room for encroachment . A 20 or 30 foot vine is nothing. If you'll recall, I grew a 70 foot long Queensland Blue vine this year. Even though we are moving from a 50 acre farm I still need me some space.

Oh, honey, the language barrier is at it's finest in this post. Now that I've cleared the Cabernet Sauvignon off the monitor, please allow me to tell you that I hope you mean that you WHACKED the stems, not WANKED them. Wanking will put hair on your palms, and make you go blind. Neither is an asset for a busy gardener.... ;D ;D ;D

Love ya, Michel. But I am literally LOL ing, which rarely happens.

The computer's fine, and I enjoyed the laugh! No apology needed. Anything that makes me spit the cab because I'm laughing that hard is a good thing!
Just remember to shave those palms before you try to fit your hands in your gardening gloves....
By the way... glad the musquee was a good taster for you.

Please don't edit. It is a marvelous example of language barriers/misunderstandings. I think it is one of the most awesome posts ever!

You left your glasses by the shaving cream. Do you need band aids for those palms?

The tan colour is the one you want at harvest time. Squashes have a tendancy to change colour over time when stored. This is the first year I grow it, so I can't garantee anything.
But my Thelma Sanders started off white, around Christmas were tan and later became orange....

Bunkie... this Musquee seed came from a pumpkin I purchased and saved seed from, not one I grew. It is a Provence with no provenance. I saved the seed because the pumpkin was easily the best tasting, most fragrant one I'd ever had in my kitchen. As to color, the ones I've seen vary a bit, from a real pumpkin-y orange to a more somber hue.
