It seems like this forum is only about corn (maize) and its close relatives (genus Zea), so why is it titled Poaceae? The Poaceae (or Gramineae), the grass family, encompasses all grasses, all true grains, and even bamboo.
And the wild Mexican proto-maize is spelled TEOSINTE, not "teostine".

There are people here growing grasses for food. The fact that they did not post yet means nothing for the future, WU... believe me, wheats ans other cereals will make a splash when they make their entry. There are some special ones in Europe I am trying to put my hands on in large quantities so I have some to share here. So far I have secured one. The other is harder to get than pope shit... And you're right about the teosinte, thanks. Alan, spelling mistake to correct, I can't do a damn thing from here

Bah... the spelling issue is a non-starter, as we all knew what Alan meant. (Mr. "Shanged" shouldn't be complaining anyway! ;D)
Just because the predominant number of posts are re: corn, doesn't mean Alan can't attempt to order the forum so that IF someone wants to post re: grasses or grains, especially those we might use as food sources, (rather than ornamental additions), they know where to do it.
Methinks you have too much time on your hands, WU. Good to see you posting again, though.

If Alan sucks at typing, so what? I much more interested in what he has to say, than in his typing skills.

Sorry, I didn't notice my error until it was already posted, and I couldn't "shange" it.

Alan, you suck at typing! Jeffrey, you suck at writing, and you especially suck at cordial exchanges of ideas and civil discourse. Must be your upbringing or lack thereof.
Would this forum be the appropriate place to discuss grasses, canes, and other bladed vegetation that can be converted to biofuel? If so, there's a lot of different "grasses" to discuss if one is interested, doncha think?

Ok, here is the deal Winter Unfazed. I changed the name of the forum, bear in mind I didn't do so for your one vote or in an effort to remedy my spelling mistake for you, but for the fact that Mike pointed out long ago that I had misspelled it and I didn't have a chance to fix it, because, as humans are wont to do, I forgot.
Anyhow, yes there are people out there who are interested in grains, and that's fine, it should be included here, there are also people interested in bamboo which is probably better covered in another forum when one looks at the forum discriptions. The point really however is that I'm not completely anal about moderating where every post on this message board goes, because believe it or not this forum is pretty much self regulated by ADULTS, not to mention the fact that no one really freaks out about that because they aren't necessarily neat freaks and some topics can fit under more than one forum, if the topic is not posted in the right forum then it doesn't really hurt anyone other than the person posting as someone won't be looking there for that particular information and will miss the post, but I certainly, and my mods certainly have better things to do that to be constantly moving topics from here to there because they may or may not be eligible to be posted in a particular forum, after all we are all adults and have other things to do with our time.
Now, you might be wondering why I am lecturing (or digressing?). Well the reason is because you could have PM'd a mod or myself about this instead of posting a pole that came off with you sounding like an asshole. At least you could have looked at it from another perspective and though to yourself "hey, do I sound like an asshole when I phrase a question in this way?" but you didn't. You did what you always tend to do and proceeded to make an ass out of yourself by phrasing your pole question the way you did as well as pointing out my spelling error while also misspelling a word in your own question.
Which begs to question again, are you really that much of an ass? Are you being cheeky? Do you just have poor social skills that we should be aware of? Let us know so we understand how to deal with your fourth quarter remarks for the year.

Is it OK to post the word "anal" here?

I knew a waitress at a local tavern long ago whose name was Lana. When I got real drunk, my dyslexia kicked in and her name tag appeared to say Anal. At least she thought it was funny ... well the first two or three times, anyway.
Looks like I was wrong ... or else I forgot that Alan can really type up a storm when he takes a mind to.
Okay ... back to the grass.

Is it OK to post the word "anal" here? Since the owner of the site is using the word "asshole", I guess ''anal" is acceptable. lol We have at least 2 teachers (that I know of) on this forum. They are not whipping out their red pencils to correct Alan's typos. What can I say? If people don't like our setup or the way we do things here, they wouldn't come to HG. We are more than open to suggestions to improve the forum. Alan contines to do an excellent job day after day.

I once had some grass that was so resinous I could hardly roll it up, it was like trying to suck a golf ball up a hosepipe and I got it stuck to my -
Oops, wrong type of grass. Sorry, I should have been posting in the Unmentionable Substances forum.
Thanks Alan for all you do. A few typos don't matter when the meaning is clear.
