Cape Gooseberry - some say it tastes like a real sweet gooseberry, others describe it a pineapply. Me I just call it good. Going to grow a bigger plot this coming year.

I was wondering if anyone knows if other varieties of Physalis peruviana, the Poha, and the Cape Gooseberry for example (if these are that) taste any better? Can't give you a comparison, since I've not tasted the other kind of P. peruviana, but Cape Gooseberries are nice! Fruity taste with a bit of tartness. They make excellent jam -- very popular here. Mostly I don't manage to harvest too many since the birds steal them before I can generally get to them Once you plant them once, they seed themselves very freely. (I don't know, though, whether the seed would survive a hard Winter.)
