I'm wondering if anyone has either of these books? 100 Heirlooms...by Carolyn Male, or the Amy Goldman book 'Heirloom Tomatoes'? I know I didn't get the titles %100 right.
I was looking at Amazon, and I am tempted to get both. Any book critiques out there, from the knowleadgable tomato growers here? They look like real pretty books! And yes, I am buying mainly for the pics! ;D Are they worth it?

I can give you about a dozen web sites that will have more and better pics than either or both of the books.

I've glanced through Heirloom Tomatoes. It's a descent coffee table book but not a very complete compendium of tomatoes though that would be difficult. I'd be interstd in those websites!

www.alibris.com/booksearch?qwork=8817027&matches=9&wquery=jennifer+bennett&cm_sp=works*listing*titleHere's another good coffee table book by well respected Canadian gardening author, Jennifer Bennett (Harrowsmith Magazine/ Lecturer). This updated Firefly books edition is reminiscent of Carolyn Male's book, but of course, with Canadian content. I took this out of the library several times just to look at the pics because I own the original edition from circa 1980 (Camden House Publishing) but it's very black and white... Something I do is check the local library system for a book, borrow it, read it, sometimes several times before I decide whether I should spend the money on it for my own collection. Just an idea

And a great idea it is. Now if I could get out library to get a few of the more modern gardening books in and on the shelves, rather than having to have them use interlibrary loans, it would make things a lot easier to read.

Thanks for the links, there are some gorgeous pictures there. And Reinhards is fantastic!! I really wanted to get a book with pretty pictures like those!! Just something about flipping through pages, you know?
As for my library, most resource books tend to be in french, being in Qc, and they don't have many that I am looking for. And being a fairly small library, they don't have the resources to get the most up to date books, either.
