This is a old thread, but I like that people are keeping back up seeds. There are many reasons it could become important. It is a cheap insurance policy even for non gardeners. although hopefuly they think a little about preparing their soil as well. But even if they just get the seeds, I think it is a very good thing. I am going to send my mom some seed for this very reason.
It isnt expensive and could mean all the difference in the world. In fact I save seeds from things I grow I never intend to use, I just bag them and put them in a box. Doesnt take up to much room and if anything disrupts the food system which could be many things, I will have seeds to give or trade people.
