Well, after doing tons of research on what was causing the yellowing and purple veigning in my tomato seedlings, I have discoverd the cause and a cure. Phosphorus lock up due to inconsistent teps. in the greenhouse and overwatering. Basically since I was overwatering (and using an unbalaned 5-1-1 fish emulsion fert.) and the temps in the greenhouse are not kept at a constant (wood stove and fans!) the roots of my plants were not able to utilize the little bit of phosporus that there was in the mix. The solution was to let the plants dry out fairly well, spay with a foliar mix of high phosphorus fert (dilluted from reg. use of course) and then water. After staring at a huge selection of fert's at my favorite seed source/greenhouse/farm source in salem I settled on Monty's joy juice because of the fert numbers and dossage (8-16-8, 1/2 teaspoon to a gallon, which I dilluted further because they are seedlings). 3 hours after spraying I can tell a massive difference, while the old leaves will always remain a bit yellowed the new leaves were increadibly green and the old ones had perked up a bit too!!! I'm glad. I know this is no big deal to those who don't sell plants but to those who do this is the difference between selling a flat or having to toss it or plant it yourself when you have no more extra room/time!
I definetly reccomend this stuff!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have 4 plants in the garden (from the same vendor) that have the same problems (pale color, purple veins and mine's leaves are curling, too). I have been folair spraying w/ fish emulsion mixture and they keep getting worse. I was convinced that I had the curly top virus (I think that's what it's called) and was going to pull the plants tomorrow. It looks like I'm going to have to get some Joy juice.

I keep doubting myself here. The 4 plants suspected of curly top are the only 4 out of 12 which have any problems. They came from the feed store and all of the rest came from other nurseries. I'm thinking that they got the virus (spread by leafhoppers) at the feed store or their supplier's place and that if I leave them and the leafhoppers re-emerge here, they'll spread the virus from these infected plants to the healthy ones. I really wanted it to be a deficiency, but the more I think about it, the more I think they're doomed to being pulled. Someone just tell me to pull them. Then, I won't feel so guilty.

Questions...
Is Monty's Joy Juice organic, or synthetic? What are the ingredients?
I have similar symptoms in my tomato plants: leaves yellowing a bit, purple stems. I have had to keep them on hold in the house due to the unseasonably cold temps, and didn't get around to repotting them until yesterday. They were in peat pellets, and became a little rootbound. They weren't getting a good amount of light, either. I had been feeding them fish emulsion and seaweed solution occasionally. In my new potting mix, I included blood meal, bone meal, and some 5-5-5 Agreaux Organics fertilizer. The questions are, will the release of this phosphorus source (bone meal) show results anytime soon? or, do I need to give them a liquid boost of P? and, is there such a thing as liquid P in an organic form?
I want them to bounce back with a vengeance!

I couldn't find much info on what's in it or if it is orgainic their site says that it is derived from "natural" substances. You can check out their web-site here: www.montysjoyjuice.com/
