Here in southern Indiana it has been just about the wettest year in anyones memory. It is certainly not unusual to have a wet spring, but it has rained all spring, into summer. The last 2 weeks we have had rain on & off, with chances for more for at least the next 10 days. Farmers haven't been able to get all their corn planted, and are now having to switch to soybeans when they can get into a field. Not much hay has been cut, and most of it is laying over pretty badly due to wind and rain. What looked earlier on like it would be a good hay year may turn into very little hay for the first cutting. What gardens were planted early are growing well, but man oh man, the weeds are taking everything over. Hope it is better for folks in other parts. But then, I guess we are never quite satisfied with the weather, are we? Always too hot, too cold, too dry, too wet....

The weather has been remarkably cold and wet here in Chicago. Constant rain (3-5" this week) 60's during the day, really cold at night (40's, low 50's). The lettuce and peas have been loving it but the rest of the stuff is just sitting there waiting for the heat. We're going up into low 70's this week and possibly 80 next week. A really slow start for this year.

Our weather here in Amsterdam this spring started record breaking hot and dry. April was the hottest and driest for 110 years (except for 2007 which was hotter and drier). Now we're having a cold spell, with a lot of heavy rain, which is only a little unusual for this time of year.
LoreD, which Chicago suburb are you in. I'm from Evanston originally.

Texas is in the middle of a drought, still. It got down to 77F last night and is supposed to get up to 99F today. We're looking for 101F tomorrow--sigh. Fulenn

We got Indian summer during spring and now it is cooling down and very rainy... I got lot's of mustard (most brassicas) bolted during spring and now, my cuke, squash and gourds aren't happy. I am also worried about blight as the "blight watch web" show very high blight case...help... so much problems yet I haven't even finish removing the grass for new planting site (my vegetable garden is new)... .

We're having some pleasant warm weather here in the UK, with the occasional wet spell. It makes a welcome change; after two dreadful years my bees have been down to zero stores, and have needed serious feeding to get through the winter. Now at last I'm seeing stored honey appearing in the broodboxes again.

Today has been the first sunny day in the midst of two weeks of rain. Unlike last year however, I haven't noticed any BER yet on the tomatoes, and nearly all my plants have at least 2 or 3 fruits! It's warm too at 87, which is finally more like June should be. Hot and humid as usual here in Jersey. We go straight from cold rainy spring to hot sweltering summer. I've already heard talk of El Nino returning. Has anyone heard forecasts for this years hurricane season?

Lots of rain and unseasonably cool. Taking it's toll of plants in the garden unfortunately. But today we had some sun and the weather is warming up tonight. Supposed to get hot by midweek. Hopefully then, I'll see some improvement in growth and happiness of my veggie plants.
