red swan bean...seed from michel...enjoying these now, they are very prolific and early! ( they are apparently a combo of purple pod and pinto. i am reading that it is for shell beans, but i was wondering if one could use them for dry beans also. any one know? thanks!)

red miracle corn...i grew seed from mybighair (Red Miracle F3) and from Hristo (Red Miracle F3 X open). both sent me 70 plus seeds...hristo, the second batch you sent i am saving to plant next year with what i save this year...
here's both plantings growing...i started them all in val's paper pots, and started mybighair's about 3 weeks before Hristo's...

Bunkie: That cob out of the tassel is a throwback towards teosinte. I've seen it a couple of places in Portugal, in smallhold farm lots, where they grow their own animal feed from their own saved seed. I saw one stock with three spurs coming out up the length of the stalk, and each had mixed cob/tassel, and all were reduced size. Language barrier made it a little difficult to communicate to them that they shouldn't save seed from the off-types, and I couldn't fine out how long he had been saving that particular variety. He was in his eighties, and farming his father's lot, and I am sure the corn variety came with the property.

thanks all. didn't have much time for starting flowers this year, so happy the hollyhocks don't require starting! ;D
