All my newly seeded brassica, lettuce and other greens have been entirely eaten by what I assume are slugs... those hungry herbivores.

I remember reading somewhere that crushed eggshells and/or used coffee grounds scattered at base of stems also deters the slimy buggers. I haven't tried it though (yet).

Copper strips as in tearing apart a copper scrub pad and making a small nest around the base of each plant, as slugs and snails won"t cross it. <smiles>

I LOVE it. Physical barriers are bar none my favourite type of defense (that and ignoring the problem which works quite well most of the time).
