Zac: I'm not sure what you're referring to, maybe you can give me a link to the page where you read that?
Anyway, both my neighbors on either side are fixing their foundations too, and will have to dig out some dirt.
My house is older than my neighbors, theirs are only about 100 and 200 years old respectively. Because my house is older, I have the problem that my house has really sunk a lot over the years, and so to compensate a bit I will dig my floor a little deeper than it is now (about 30cm), so more dirt will have to be dug out of my house.

Well I thought it said that you shared a wall with someone and they werent going to fix their foundation. It was on the link you just gave it said.
<The technical architect needs to do more work. In particular, I have a common wall with one of my neighbors who is not repairing his foundation at the same time (even though his is in bad shape too). I need to stabilize this wall using support only from my foundation and this requires extra piles and a special concrete structure. The technical architect needs to do another ground test to verify the depth of the stable ground layer and combine this with some more calculations for this special wall support. The good news is I get to bill my neighbor for half the extra cost this support is costing!>
No big deal, I just was curious. A 330 year old house made of wood? I dont think I ever heard of that. What I know of amsterdam it sounds like a VERY neat place. Hopefully in a couple years my wife and I will get to go visit europe. her family is from poland. Id like to see a bunch of the old buildings, castles, roman things, stone henge, but as far as modern attractions we just want to see amsterdam, a village in russia, and poland.

There's just a little confusion about the wording. Both my neighbors need to do their foundations too, we just all decided in the end not to do them at the same time. We all need to dig contaminated dirt out. This neighbor I mentioned here blog ended up doing his foundation before mine, in fact he's busy with his now.
It's all been very complicated, and things keep changing...
Amsterdam is worth visiting. Send me an email when you come, maybe we can get together...

It will be a couple years anyway before we can go to europe, but if we are still in touch I certainly will.
