I am gonna be traveling through France, Belgium and Switzerland with Tom Wagner in a few days. Alan was supposed to come with us but he can't make it.
We will represent HG the best we can folks. I do not remember having been so nervous. Leaving my wife alone with her very sick mom in need of help ( cancer, but she is winning the fight) is the most terribly selfish thing I have done in my life, or is it...
I do not remember having lived with that amount of stress and anguish. But it is in the cards, we are buiding with Kokopelli links that will bring many other things, some international organizations are looking at this small forum now, and how it can help the world ( disease resistant potatoes, perennial grains), it should be in order for you to expect new members here in the coming year, including from Africa......
To many here, visitors, this forum is only a place to be on the net. So be it. But for some of us, it is a place to change the world, kill us if you don't like dreamers.
Some are working their asses so it happens.... and members from here are starting to circle this little planet...it would not have happened without HG... and Kokpelli
Love you folks, felt like saying it...
Michel

I wish with a passion that I could be there, but it just is not in the cards at the moment This does not however mean that my heart won't be there all along. Have a good and safe trip Michael. Please inform everyone of the reasons why I cannot make the journey while you are there and bring back with you many seeds, tell everyone that I honestly, truly, and deeply appreciate the invitation and the oporotunity and that I look forward to working with them in the future. You see a bit of revolutionary thinking goes a long way still! Tell them the redneck revolutionary in Southern Indiana believes in what he and all of us are doing and that we will continue to push the boundaries of our projects in coming years. In the meantime I will play in the soil and wonder what the soil in France feels like?

I don't think you use the word redneck in the fashion we do in Canada. The red neck of the man working the soil as long lost its meaning here, and for the rest of the world by the way my friend. I don't mind you sticking to old meanings, but the world changes...like the corns you play with. I would never be friend with a redneck in the sense most of world's people use the expression, I suggest a little change of terminology here You know I will tell them and you know you are in my hearth Alan. Heck, I did not go through all this trouble to bring you with us for nothing.... We still go on....together Michel P.S.Love you brother

I hope to have some very interesting projects over the next few years. I will have a camera soon and post it here. If people all over the place really do start coming here, it could be a very good thing. If we let the plants tell us how to feed ourselves, and even our neighbors, then we have and can find the answers. If we let international companies with only profit in mind tell us how to feed ourselves, then many people will stay hungry, and our food will stay poisoned. This is not needed. Everyone here really is on the cutting edge. I learn something nearly every day here, by other people trying to do things another way, with their hands.

I am sorry that Alan will not be with us during the jaunt through France Belgium and Switzerland. Maybe we can organize some sort of sequel.
When Michel approached me a year ago about this possiblility of giving workshops in France, I thought, "Dream on!"
Well, with just a few days before we depart for France, the reality is setting in. I had to make sacrifices to prepare for the trip; namely, getting all the hyrids made so that the seed can be extracted in time. The tomato harvest from early sowing to late is wrapping up and many potatoes have been harvested, but very few of my first year seedlings are mature enough to dig. That means a 7 week delay of finishing my work.
I have accomplished a lot because I didn't have time to be my usaual lazy self. I have gone through several dozen batteries just taking pictures of my tomatoes as I prepare them for dissection. When I try to look at all of my tomato pictures, I am reminded of the diversity I am creating.
So Michel and I will be the ambassadors for the independent plant breeders everywhere.

Have wonderful, educational excursion, where a great lot of information (and perhaps some seeds) will flow across the borders. Please be sure to enjoy yourselves while there and hopefully you will be able to take us with you in mind and hearts. Cheers, Grungy
