I thought it might be fun to add pictures of common and uncommon vegetable plants gone to seed and seed saving pictures. I'll start off with lettuce gone to seed: I thought of this as a community project if you want to participate. ;D

Magenta Spreen (Chenopodium gigantium): A member of the goosefoot family, it has a reputation of being a prolific self sower like its cousin lamb's quarters.

Saving Mustard (and other brassica) Seeds, just some pictures. I find it easy to separate the chaff for small amounts by carefully cutting the stems and then sticking them headfirst in a bowl. I then squeeze them with my hand to shatter the pods. The seeds fall to the bottom of the bowl. The chaff is removed from the top and voila! My understanding that you want to achieve optimal dryness and ripeness of the seed pods on the growing plant.

Fermenting tomato seeds. Lots of people talk about this method but here's what mine looked like. Notice the lovely layer of muck at the top of the cup. Gross huh.

Dry, ripe orach seeds: I find it's easiest just to strip them off by grabbing the stem and striping upward.

great pics and instructions telsing! right now i'm gathering seed from onion plants and cabbage plants i let grow from last year. i figure if i don't use them to plant, i'll use them as food from sprouting this winter. i'm also collecting a lot of bean seed and dried beans. saving lots of tomato seed and melon seed. i got the same mold on mine, too! no pics...yet...

Great pictures! My first batch of fermenting tomato seeds are looking almost ready. The room they're in is starting to have that very distinct fermenting vinegary kind of off-putting smell .
