Maybe someone has already pointed these out but i found them to be a really interesting reads and their free, which is also good. The one on potato breading was particularly good. Check them out. www.sharebooks.ca/ebooks_by_author2.php?author=Robinson,+Raoul+A. I'm not affiliated with the author.

One of my favourite books, because when I read them some years ago they opened my eyes for something so obvious and logical and yet greatly ignored in our "modern" times. I'm too not affiliated with mr. Robinson, although I would like to. It would be great if he joins this forum. 5-6 years ago he had small web site, but not for long. BTW he is Canadian and turns 81 today (yesterday for my time zone). Here is something more: newfarm.rodaleinstitute.org/international/pan-am_don/nov04/chapingo.shtml

I have not read the books but will now have to look into it, thank you guys for these links.
If any of you know a way of contacted him then please feel free to invite him to join our forum, if nothing else as things slow down in the next couple weeks I will see what I can find out about getting him to join our little community here.

I particularly liked one of his chapters called---- "Three Brutal Laws of Nature"---- Kind of like "This is where "you" are on.......... earth....... an ecologist view ".....

What a cool picture!
I signed up for his site Hristo, I'll be inviting him here very shortly.
We need to get as many independent and informational plant breeders on this site as we can, the more information we can accumulate the better!

m-4hills: That's a great picture! There are a number of great resources for free gardening books over the internet. Since the basic principles behind gardening haven't changed in hundreds of years and don't vary much from country to country, even older or foreign books can be useful and often have interesting historical information. I did a post on my blog about this almost 2 years ago: www.patnsteph.net/weblog/2008/01/reading-material/In particular, one of the places I mentioned is Australia: www.soilandhealth.org/The rules for copyrighted materials are different in Australia. Basically as soon as a book goes out of print, it can be freely downloaded. This online library offers free downloads of a number of such plant related books. You have to give your name and certify that the download doesn't conflict with your local laws, but the website is not very careful about verifying this information...
