yep, each one of those aerial tubers will turn in a couple years into one of those elongated ones. i've grown them intentionally a few times but they're so widespread and unknown around here that i've taken to just collecting them wild (both aerial and subterranean). tubers are pretty generalized-potato like, once they're cooked long enough to get past the initial crispiness.
