That's nice of you to take his friend along too. I'm sure she appreciated it.

Thanks, they are doing well. Learning the routine here. I see the muscovey by itself alot. The other ducks are not picking on it or anything. I think someone clipped its wings. They look cut. I know they can fly, but is it really necessary? I really hope this Pekin is a male. He is only slightly bigger than the hens and his "quack" is iffy. I haven't seen any humping either. He might just be immature. Only time will tell, I guess. The hens seem much happier with new friends. That's all I really wanted anyway.

The new Pekin is male. He is bigger than the females, but still makes baby sounds when he is excited. So his name is Crybaby. He is a good boy who never goes near the road. The Muscovy is so funny. About an hr before sundown, she takes herself into the coop. She goes right into the carrier I picked her up in & beds down. When the other ducks come inside, she comes out to snuggle with them.

Does anyone know if Muscovy ducks don't lay eggs until they are 2 yrs old? I know she is laying eggs. I just want to know if the duck is older than I thought. Both the new ducks are doing well. The Muscovy's feathers have grown back and she can take flight now. And the Pekin drake is very large for his age. He's gotta be close to 10 lbs already. He is not even trying to breed them yet. Maybe he is a Giant Pekin? I call him Crybaby because he half quacks and half squeaks all the time. But he is a good boy who is afraid of the road.

I bought day old muscovys in the fall and they commenced to lay the following spring...and lay...and lay....there were nests everywhere!
FP, do you have seramas? There's a guy north of me named Gord who is determined to find seramas. Can I put him in touch with you?

Yeah, I didn't think it took 2 yrs. lol I have a big nest box they lay in. I did get a pair of Seramas. And the hen has started laying eggs. Bigger than I thought actually. I'll have to get a comparison pic. I am a bit concerned about hatching eggs myself. I have no incubator. And I really have no idea how closely related these 2 are. They could be mother/son for all I know. They guy had no clue. I really don't want to see a lil deformed chick hatch out. I will PM you with my info. I'll try to help him out. I am not sure if there are any in Canada at the moment.
