I have had the best Valentine's day ever. My doe, Fleur had twin doelings, Sasha and Malia and I had 13 out of 14 eggs hatch today. The last one will stay in the incubator for another day or so. My little Fleur was a first freshener and she did an awesome job. I checked on her before I went to the store, and 15 minutes later she had one half cleaned off and another fell right out. I opened it's birth sack and assisted, although it was unnecessary. They are beautiful and I couldn't be happier. The chicks are doing well too. I am trying to learn how to upload pictures now.

Here's a picture of two born at our place, on the 12th. Kids are such a joy! We always joke that they seem to choose the worst possible weather in which to be born. These were no exception. They came during a driving rain storm when the whole barnyard was ankle deep in mud! This is one doe (white) and the other is a buckling. We haven't started hatching yet. Congrats on the chicks! Awwwwwww, can't wait to see more pics. houseodessey if you need any help uploading pics, give a shout. I have relatives in Texas and just got word yesterday that their spring bulbs are blooming. Spring is slowly making its way north. Plus all these new spring babies now, so sweet. I'd love to have a couple of goats. They make good living lawn mowers. lol

Aw. I remember when I was a kid being raised on a hobby farm and we thought our goat had 'colic' as my dad called it. That colic bore forth the cutest kids you ever saw! We used to play but heads with the babies until they grew horns... And I second the lawn mower comment. Wish I had the land for goats now, and some poultry.

Very sweet babies, George. Here are mine. Hopefully they aren't too big. I'm not all that good with picture posting. Not the best shots but they wiggle a lot. FP, this is not the same doe. The one I rescued seems to be frigid and won't let the billy goat near her.

Very nice pictures! I have never met a kid which isn't adorable! By the way, concerning the "frigid doe," we've heard that some does have their preferences, both positive and negative, and will reject certain bucks. The folks who mentored us were once trying to mate a certain doe with a given buck (pedigree) and she absolutely wouldn't have him. But one of their extra bucks, a very small yearly jumped the fence and she accepted him right away!
We have ten acres and try to raise much of our own food. Of all the animals, I think that goats are the one which most easily justify their keep. We have dairy goats and absolutely LOVE the milk and milk products we get from them.

The babies are doing well (goats and chicks).
George, that's a good suggestion re: the doe not liking the buck. Maybe I'll take her down to the neighbor's house and see if she likes that buck better. People make it sound like a doe in heat will stand for anything but it's certainly not the case with this one. Perhaps she's just a very discerning lady.
