Egg shells are 94 to 97% calcium carbonate the brown pigment is called ooporphryn and it is deposited on the surface of the egg shell. You can actually rub the pigment off with your fingernail.
Eggshell color is determined by the gene for blue(O), and an unknown number of modifying genes to cause a brown color. The white shell is due to a lack of these genes for blue/brown(o).
Sense the actual genetics came from both parents, eggs can differ in shades of color to some existent. You can't get white eggs from poultry with a blue(O) gene parent - but you can get a verity of lighter and darker shades.

Yessir, Sherlock.
It's because I adored the fowl colour of red with blue laced feathers. And speaking of genetics, it's a tough one to breed as the red is one gene, the blue another and the lacing another. After a while, without the proper reintroduction of lacing, the colours just become muddy red. But done correctly it's gorgeous...
Oh and of course, remember when we were children, the blue rinse that elderly ladies put in their hair to disguise the gray? I haven't got that desperate YET.

funny you talk about grey hair. I am thinking of doing something to mine Not cause I think they need it, I always wanted to have grey hair younger, like my dad who got them at 35 or so, while I got mine much later, but just to make Vivianne scream
I ALMOST bought some hair color at the drugstore this week end. But then the images of girls I know stuck with weird colored hairs after such treatments just frightened me.
They sell some temporary stuff I think. I would love to have my father in law and Vivian's brother in on this and all get together before the Christmas dinner to do just that, change our hair color, and go for something totally silly, blonde maybe or red ( like in redhead )
The face of Vivianne if she ever sees that!! Oh my god, I think I should pay myself just to do it!!!

Not having a lot of education in the stock market I've always wondered what NASDAQ stood for.

Me too
I think I'll go ahead with it, or at the very least try hard, first recruiting my 2 nephews, that's close to 600 pounds of blondness right there, then grandpa won't be able to say no, once I got him his sons will follow.
Imagine, a blonde Christmast!! They're crazy too, so planning really ''blonde'' things to say or to do would of course be in order
I could serve a piece of tuna as ''chicken of the sea'' ( of Jessica - there are chickens in the sea? - Simpson's fame )
Ah! Getting away with everything dumb one can do or say, I've got to live it at least once!!
Finally gardening on sandy loam
