Some of the turkeys cannot reproduce naturally. You'll want a breed that can. I like the look of the wild turkey. I think the white are ugly.

Okay Alan. I just wanted to confirm that with you. There are many heritage breeds of turkeys. I've had Bourbon Red's since 2003 and I love them. They've done well for me at local shows. And they make a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner. I think I should do a separate thread for this. It will just get lost if I don't. But I'll post it later. I need to go buy a bag of feed for the few birds that I have left. It's too dark now by the time I get home from work to let them stay out during the day. Tamworth's are a good breed of hog. Had those for several years. They loved to forage. I've heard other people say that they would dig under fences and get loose, but we never had that problem. I guess it depends how much they've got to eat, whether they feel the need to roam or not?
