I'm also just getting into hunting wild mushrooms. I have a big patch of prized matsutake mushrooms that I found last fall in a hemlock grove. That's the thing with some wild mushrooms, once you find your patches you can return every year (and eventualy pass their locations along to your childeren in your will!). It's just too bad that the mushroom season conflicts with the seed harvesting season, it's hard to find time to go out.

Matsutake in Nova Scotia? Wow! I thought that was more of a Pacific NW shroom. I found one Clustered Blue Chanterelle last fall also on our property and keeping that location a secret!
