I thougth I'd just get this going... This will be a ongoing list, so please feel free to add.
partially hydrogenated oils table salt corn oil, canola oil most corn or corn based products in general as they are sure to contain gmos. If you grow or have access to genuine pure heirloom types then enjoy. processed foods bleached white flour refined white sugar, unless its used to feed the beneficial bacteria and such in combacha teas. coffee that is not organic, as its sure to be high in heavy metals splenda and other artificial sweeteners unless used very sparingly. all sodas to be continued....

Also, prepackaged low fat/ non fat items... most of these have lots of extra sugar in them, to improve the "mouth feel". Fats are what make us like things like cookies... so without them, something has to be added.

Pet food is not the only food that uses wheat gluten, a lot of processed foods for human consumption do also.
Stay away from pasturized/homogenized dairy and all facory farmed fats such as lard with BHT in it. Fats are where toxins accumulate in stressed animals. Factory farmed animals are under incredible stress

Damn...I'm in trouble...I drink entirely toooooo much soda.
If I were to stop drinking soda I'd drop like 10 lbs.

Soda is pretty bad, Kimi. The only thing worse, in my book, is diet soda! I was never a big soda drinker, but I have friends who have to have their fix every day. I've gotten to the point where I definitely am very picky about the no-nutritive-value stuff I put in my stomach. I do make an exception for chocolate though. I don't care how much fat and refined sugar is in it, I'm all about the Cadbury fruit and nut bar, baby! I just don't let myself have them more than once every month or so. I figure it probably takes about that long to get the crap out of my system!
My kids are big label readers, by the way. I'm proud that they take an interest in what goes into them. My daughter has been teased about the lunch she brings to school, but she just tells them where to go, basically. The other day I guess one of the girls at her table was making fun of her sandwich, while eating the school lunch. Kendall looked at the tray, and then said "Go ahead and tease. When you're all bloated in 30 years, after eating Hot Pockets all your life, I'll come visit you in the assisted living facility, and you can show me your new stretch pants. Then we'll take your scooter out for a test spin." The principal happened to be in the cafeteria at the time, and he thought it was so funny he called me! Told me he could tell she was my kid, even before he checked her last name to be sure.
My son won't eat anything from the store with more than 8 ingredients. And he had better recognize the ingredients, too. It's kinda cool to see a 9 year old reading the side of a cereal box, actually.

Kimi- I love Cokes!! I try to limit myself to the Mexican ones twice a month. They are delicious.
LG-from what I've read on these forums, you have the coolest kids ever. Thanks for doing such a great job with them. They make me hopeful for all of our futures.

How about making your own soda? Here is a recipe where even if you don't care for this particular kind, you can alter it and make a lot of different types. This comes courtesy of Dr. Mercola
Healthy Green Tea Soda (Prepare in advance, as it will steep in fridge for about an hour before serving) Serves 4
You'll need:
* 2 green tea teabags * 2 cups (1 pint) boiling water * Pint-sized Pyrex measuring cup or heat-proof jar * 1 tsp. raw, organic honey (optional) * 2 cups total Natural Sparkling mineral water (½ glass per serving tea)
Preparation:
1. Place tea bags in Pyrex measuring cup or heat-proof jar. 2. Pour 2 cups boiling water over teabags. 3. Add 1 tsp. raw, organic honey if desired, and stir. 4. Place tea in fridge for about 1 hour to cool. 5. Once cooled down, remove tea from fridge. 6. For each serving, pour half a glass of tea into tall ice-tea glass. 7. Pour half a glass of sparkling mineral water into each tea.
There you go! Let the fizzy magic begin! A very, very tasty, alternative to soda. Enjoy!
