I don't think I need to do anything in Michigan other than buy a hunting license and deer tag. I'm not under 18. I'll obviously research it.

If it's anything like Indiana and you own your own land you shouldn't need any tags. Here we can hunt on our own land without an issue.
I had never really considered deer hunting until this year, but this week I too will be taking to the tree stands with either my new/used Nobel 12 gauge with slug barrel or even better my favorite gun inherited from my grandfather, an Ithica .16 gauge five shot pump with the last 5 or 6 boxes of slugs made for .16 in the world! (hard to find!)
I agree hunting for meat is one thing and hunting for sport is retarded. I don't care what I hit as long as it's decent sized and worth eating.
Deer Jerky is the best, one of the many reasons I've decided to hunt deer, well that and I think I've got enough rabbit and squirrel squared away already for an army! LOL

A friend of mine bagged 2 deer this year. I'm looking forward to the Jerky and Summer Sausage. He's promised me some steak and burger too...yes.
Yesterday was opening day for gun season here in Michigan. Legions of Weekend warriors have headed into the woods for mass consumption of achohol and shooting at anything that moves...

Gun season starts this saturday. I think I'll pick up a few more "posted" signs (and a new orange hat lol)

Saturday was opening day here, I haven't been yet, but plan on going sometime in the next day or two. I manged to actually find a few boxes of .16 slugs which I plan on loading into my Ithica five shot pump. I plant on processing it myself, should be an interesting experience to say the least.

I went to see some horses yesterday that I had placed in a good home last summer and it was a joy to see just how well they are being taken care of.While I was there I spotted a very grand floral arrangement in their entrance hall, what caught my eye was the feathers in the arrangement, these feathers have got to have been around 3ft long, knew they were not peacock feathers,so I asked, happens they are a tail feather from a pheasant{wish I had my camera with me} and she tells me the price she payed for one feather,$110 FOR EACH FEATHER,theres at least 10 in that arrangement. When I got home I start looking on the net for pheasant images,I found it, its a Reeves pheasant the tail feather comes from.I couldn't find any info that told me the bird molted their tail feathers,so I'm taking it that the feather is either taken from a dead bird or they harvest them, and maybe the bird grows a new tail feather, which doesn't sound quite right to me,but maybe they do,I don't know much about pheasant's other than eating one once in a classy restaurant,to pungent a taste for me,but if I had never tried it I would never have known. So if any one has these birds ,dont toss away the tail feather, its worth some money.
