The Erythroniums look really pretty! I'd love to see those in person. Thanks so much for the Forager's Harvest reference! Yes we have tons and tons of wild purple Fireweed here. If I had known anyone wanted seed I would have saved some from last year. Just remind me in July so I don't forget. No white varieties here that I know of, just the purple like in Alaska. Even though we have so much nearby, I do not find many seeds make it into my garden beds, unlike other weeds. Almost as if our Fireweed is more polite? hehe This was the only pic I got of one patch last July at the start of bloom time. s84.photobucket.com/albums/k29/Ceara_QC/?action=view¤t=DSCF0001-15.jpg

I got a very nice email from my friend, inspirator and cycle campaigner Dave du Feu in Linlithgow just outside of Edinburgh as he had discovered this post (he is mentioned in the article)!! He told me "My 'spare' time is still mainly Spokes (cycle campaign) stuff, but last year I did some grow-your-own newsletters for our local Climate Challenge Group (LCC). I had intended to carry on this year, but just too busy with spokes stuff, so I converted last year's newsletters into semi-permanent advice notes, here..." Dave is still growing his own after all these years and I thought the link with these advice notes (based on many years of experience) was worth posting. Have a look: food.linlithgowclimatechallenge.org.uk/?page_id=45

Thanks for the link I'll have a look. It's fun how people pop back into your life sometimes.
