Hi to all,
I'm sorry i did not write here earlier.
But I was to busy reading messages on this forum. It's really great!! And I did not know it was possible to trade seeds all over the world till I found this forum.
I'm Catharina. I live in the Netherlands, in the center. I love tomatoes and Sweet Peppers, but mostly tomatoes. I have a garden (not so big as a lot of the members here... jaja) It's about 800m2, I have 2 greenhouses (small ones 3X4) I have 1000 succulents and Cactus's ( sorry if i wrote the name wrong) The most of them I grow myself from seed. I have a German Sheppard and 30 small parrots in my garden.
It's a pity we normally have short summers here. Last year I had a lot of tomatoes still green when the weather changed, so I had to throw them away. Hope this summer is going to be a good one.
I'd like to put my picture here but I can not find how to do that.
Catharina

Welcome! Your garden sounds fantastic and since I would like to see pictures of it here is how I do it.
1. Upload your photos into a photo sharing sight like photobucket 2. Choose the 'square bracket' IMG 'square bracket' tag. 3. Paste the 'img' code into the message. If you want to view it first, preview your message.
Let me know how that works!
We have a shortish summer here too.

Under modify profile, you will need to put in the url of your photo. I would size it first

We have a German Shepherd! His name is Vulcan and he belongs to our oldest son. Vulcan likes to take Robby for long brisk walks. Robby comes back from the walks with arms stretched out and covered in dirt. He hangs on to the leash for dear life and Vulcan doesn't know the meaning of "slow".

I love German Sheppards , they are allways full of joy, allways wanna play. I used to train them for security till one sheppard hit my knee real bad cause he ran so fast fast he couln't stop in time so...... he hit my knee and my miniscus was broke..

Welcome Catharina. One a step ahead of me. I've never been able to figure out how to post a profile avatar on this site?
We all had a short summer last year. Colder than normal weather conditions and too much rain. You say that you threw out tomates because they didn't ripen. That's unfortunate. What about bringing them indoors to ripen slowly and use them as they turn ripe? Or perhaps the members here can help you with ways of preserving green tomatoes if you aren't familiar with green tomato relishes?

I did not know you can ripen them, I threw , I think , 20 kilos away That's so sad When the fall weather forecast calls for Frost, I bring any good green tomatoes indoors in a cardboard box. Cover them to keep them from light. And check them every day for ripe ones and (hopefully very few) ones that are turning rotten. Other members here might also be able to provide you with a recipe for Green Tomato Relish or Chow. Even Fried Green Tomatoes!
