We re-purposed the old office into my garden room. It's the closest thing I have to a man-cave. ;D There is just enough room for seed storage, growing seedlings, and work space (old kitchen counter top from before the remodel years ago). From my stool, I can reach just about everything. Here's the new seedling rack: The end of the room I took the picture from is still the library. And I had my back to the exterior door, where I'm only a few steps from a small deck where I can put seedlings on nice days. I'm loving it! The little red dots are lady bugs...

Nice. What's that design on the clear plastic? I have always dreamed of a similar 'man' cave. Maybe next year!

Are those "grow lights"?

Growlights, yes. They are cheap shoplights with 4' flourescent bulbs (T12). The pair on the bottom are new, and made to accept T 12 or T 8 bulbs. I hear they are phasing out T 12s soon... I'd prefer to have 3 fixtures per shelf, but right now I need the extra shelf more than extra lumens. I run them about 12 hours a day. Blue, I'll give you three guesses.

Johno, AWESOME set up. Seems so much nicer than standing in my cold garage ... Very cool setup. Am glad you got it finished. You talked about it a while ago. I don't see your own personal coffee pot!!! I'll try 3 guesses ... 1 - Seeds 2 - Seeds 3 - Seeds

The room looks great. Did you build the plant shelf?

So, like, are the lights you grow better than the one's at Lowe's? ;D Sorry, it's spring and I just had to do it...

Blue, I'll give you three guesses. You are smoking in the same room as the Seedlings? Johno, don't you know that Second Hand Smoke can harm their health...

Very nice seedling rack and just about enough room :-)
How is the watering organised? Can't quite see the base layer below the trays. Is it capillary matting?
Is there a heat source? Is the function of the curtains to keep heat in?
Do I spot a cd player in the corner? Apparently Mozart works best for children and seedlngs :-)

I built it. The carton just happened to be sitting there... The trays are solid, so I just pour water in them to bottom water - about a quart at a time when they start to dry. Hidden behind the stool on the floor is an electric space heater. It's a small room, so it's easy to control the temperature. The plastic is primarily to keep the walls clean, as I fertilize with foliar fish emulsion spray on occasion. I have enough of the lady bug vinyl to put on the front if desired, but decided against it. Yes, there's a CD player. I like to rock out sometimes. And sometimes they get classical music (I like Ravel or Bach better than Mozart most days.
