hey all, just got off tthe phone with kate, and she sounds good...tho...has no transportation...their truck broke down. she says it's been one thing after another. she says they're in the 90's now! and, she caught a starling flying into the barn and stealing her banty's eggs!
galinea, she said your cukes are doing wonderfully and are loaded with blooms. also, your beans are doing great!
dan, she says thanks to you for the seeds, and passing the word on to the others.
jo, she asked me a question about eating her potatoes and i told her to check with her extension guy. she said she left him a note several weeks ago and no word. i told her the squeaky wheel gets greased, and to call him again...and again...and again! ;D
i was thinking, and mentioned to her, that maybe the water washed all the chemicals, etc..., you knowm, flushed the gardens so it probably was ok to eat them. she says they're doing well and flowering.
she said to say 'Hi' to you all and let you know she's mising you. as soon as she gets a ride to the library, she's going to see if they have a computer she can use to connect.

I'm connected once again,I'm still having a few minor problems but nothing I cant screw up further given time. The computer didn't take long to clean up after the virus ,it was just our lack of funds is why it took so long also seems the virus wasn't that dread full, well we didn't have to replace the hard drive, but did have to replace the router and the video card.I had no idea I would miss it quite so much as I did,any how nice to be here once again .Kate.

You're Back!!!!! I missed you. I was just wondering the other day how you were getting on. I figured it must be almost time to ring you up and see if life was getting back to normal after the flooding. And here you are!! Still can call I know...I'm just thrilled to know that you are online once again.

I'll add my sorry to hear about the flooding and everything note. I wish We could have gotten some of that rain, as things are drying up here in parts of Missouri although the Northern half is getting some. I no how she feels about not having a computer as I went through that myself, funny how you get used to things like that when you did with out for so many years. I hope she doesnt have any contamination at her home, maybe she can get some raised beds built when things dry out, but where could she go to get clean soil from. Well heres wishing her the best, its a shame so many others lost there homes and livelyhoods. George

Finally the computer is up and working, sounds like a small aircraft preparing for take off but that's the least of my problems. I finally got some lumber to build my raised beds in the existing veg patch, not quite the lumber I wanted but it was free, how I so love free. My season was miserable, very bad pollination on my corn, dug the spuds up the other week, they grew like weeds tall and strong full of flower, only thing is they were the same bloody size as when I planted them, this has never happened to me before, kind of really embarrassing.....The only good crop of toms were the osu blues ,seed from bunkie, they really put on a show ,took me a while to realize they are better left till they turn blood red at the base and deep purple at the top.The vinton watts which started off so well as juniors in the ground but became very disappointing as the season wore on,I put it all down to the soil , I was tending them like a new mother would a baby, guess I didn't try hard enough. All in all it was a really disappointing summer season. Its nice to be back and reading the forum, defiantly cheers me up .Kate.
