This is something Grungy and I had talked over long before she got sick. The survivor does not stay alone. Neither one of us was built for single harness. Well folks, I've done it again, for the fourth time. Gotten married that is. This time I gave myself a bit more of a challenge in doing so. I am going to have to do battle with immigration as well as learn a new language and teach someone English. Both should keep my mind in trim. She is not as young as the photos would make you think, so I'm not an old fart making a fool of myself over a younger gal = she turned 61 yesterday. We got married on November 5 in a local church. Big learning/teaching curve for both of us = she can't cook western, speaks no English, and has never gardened. I can't cook Chinese, or speak Chinese. We are having a heck of a good time figuring out how each other sees the world.

Sincere congratulations to you both, Dan!! Hope and pray you two have a blessed and long life together. Have a few questions ... - What's her name? - How'd you meet her?

Well the best to you both, I think she will catch on just live and I know that the heart can break down any barriers. No one deserves to grow old alone and lonely and I sure that the two of you will work things out just fine. George W.

You sly dog! I thought you had been conspicuously preoccupied lately. Good for you, Dan. She's beautiful. What does she speak?

Her name is Shaoling, and she speaks Chinese. We met through an online dating/penpal club, Senior FriendFinders. Coincidentally, Val and I met through FriendFinders in 1998. She was in Canada visiting her son. Now we start the paperchase to get her permanent residency. We are having an amazingly long open fall here, as you can see from the photos (taken today). I will eventually get more photos of the greenhouse up, and get my seed list pulled together. Right now, I'm off to bed. Cheers Dan

Congratulations to both of you. Tell Shaoling I said 'Ni hao' from Arkansas. (Dad was a Mandarin translator. That's about all I remember lol.)

And here, I told everyone, oh Dan is very busy in the garden, no time to answer us! Well, my word, you sneaked out of the garden for a moment or two, huh?
If you speak no Chinese, and she speaks no English, is there a language that you both speak? French? Surely, you didn't figure out how to say, I love you, let's get married by pointing? At the wedding surely you didn't just point and nod?
What a surprise! Congratulations!
I hope immigration goes well for you. My son married a German lady, and it was sometimes a very stressful situation to get her here permanently. I know different countries involved, but it was very much, an unknown area to figure out how to get through it.
I wish the best for you both!

Congratulations! Gardeners are such optimists. Shaoling speaks Chinese, but which? Mandarin, the "easy" one I studied, or one of the others? Always an adventure.
