Blacktail Mountain is a good variety for short season areas - ripens early, tastes good and stores well. Nevertheless, some other varieties have had a better taste at my growing conditions - Yellow Doll fe and Gold Flower (both yellow fleshed). Unfortunately, I was not able to obtain seeds of the Gold Flower for this year and as it is a hybrid variety, collecting it's seeds wouldn't help much - unless, of course, one plans to start 'dehybridize' this variety. Cream of Saskatchewan has ripened nicely here outdoors and I think it is worth of growing in cooler climate. I have two other white-fleshed varieties this year - Suika and White Sugar Lump. Will be interesting to compare them.

I have planted seeds from a Gold Flower fruit. The resulting fruit looked nothing like Gold flower. If I planted many more plants it might help to find something more like Gold Flower, but Gold Flower is so unique that I am guessing that it might be difficult to dehybridize.

Yeah, this is clearly too few... I've got around 100 seeds - but unfortunately, from OP cross (nobody knows with what namely...). I'll sow them probably next year.

I wont need any seeds until around May 10th, but if anyone has any seeds for Early Canada that i can add to my proto-landrace please send me a PM or let me know. Those Estonian watermelons look interesting. Has anyone purchased any from them? www.seemnemaailm.ee/eng/index.php?CID=214

Yeah, that's because Joseph threw them out in the snow without mittens or overcoats. Even the Estonians don't let their melons shiver in the snow.
