One of the interesting pieces of information to come out of these wild game ranches is that some animals are very surprising with respect to their ability to handle varying climates. Some African antelopes for example handle cold very well.

Interesting to note. I suppose that goes to plants sometimes too as I am occasionally shocked to discover that hardiness in a plant for say desert conditions (which of course do involve a degree of cold) can occasionally also mean hardiness for my conditions or alaternatively tolerance of drought can also mean tolerance to flooding as the same modification in root systems allow both. Fascinating really.

hmm, we attract amazing slugs and snails here . When I lived in the city the Potuguese famillies would harvest snails from the vacant lot next door . I was thinking of digging some water catchment ponds and stock some feeder gold fish, tadpoles, snails to start an ongoing population and make sort of a duck and goose environment but they would be small ponds and ditches , I don't have a large property. I am building beehives and putting in salt licks to funnel visiting deer away from my gardens out to the pasture area. If you make an ideal and synergistic environment I would think some animals would free range well. Interesting and here I have run across this delicacy a few times every year with complete disregard and they sell it for $200 euro a tin?
And they are quiet too : )
