Quick update, about a week ago I tossed a decent quantity of the cowpeas (basically the stuff left over after I had taken out a handful or so for later planting) and put them in a "stump dump" This morning while seeding a nearby area I looked in and noticed something interesting; unlike with the soybeans and other, the green in the cowpeas fades in sunlight, the ones that were green and the ones that were "white" are now more or less the same color, and that colors far closer to white than green. Granted the green was always a bit paler than for the others (I chalked that up to the fact that the other species mentioned are much darker of color inside to begin with, a non green soybean is usually more of a yellow than white, ditto a pea (field or chick) I'll have to see (shoud any grow) if the seed is green down the line.
