HI folks, I talked to Allen yesterday, good convo...I have a new tomato forum..hopefully it will be the last one I am part of...All here are invited..I don't care who doesn't like who..this is MY sandbox and i say all should get along..i realize that alot don't fine, if you see someone you dont get along with, dont address them ALL are welcome until they prove themselves not..my tolerance for trivial BS is non existant. Allen and i agree, its time for all of us to pull together not apart. Also, YOU MAY SELL seeds on our site..I was hopeing to get Caroll Knapp and alot of others here that sell to come over, we are a tomatoes only forum.
thank you Dean Slater

I'm already reading bad reports and wondering about a lot of things. Demanding 100% neutrality after years of animosity is water and oil. Tomatoville had a chance to become the elite source of tomato information but tyranny ruled and many knowledgeable growers were prevented from sharing it. That caused others such as Tomatoland to be created to cover that potential void and it was destroyed. Now we have the remnants of that trying to compete with each other to become another Tomatoville in more ways than one. There are a certain number of people involved in this who would delight in taking down your forum and who are probably already working on how to do it. They've had experience and know how drive everyone away by intimidation. The Internet allows a wimp to say things that he'd be knocked on his behind if he said it face-to-face. You can't prevent this even if you monitor every post 24/7. Nor can you prevent previous animosities, which you are ignorant of, from factoring in.
I've been a member of many forums in 12+ years and have long ago learned that "it doesn't take a genius to spot a goat in a herd of sheep." Seems like there are always a few of them on every forum. The sheep usually win out in the end and the goat goes off to find another herd. The ugly ones, though, are the gorillas. They build a nice nest and ruin it by defecating in it so nobody can use it. I can live with the goats but not the gorillas. Nobody can guarantee that one won't show up when we know that they are already here. I've had my fill of the stench that they delight in producing and not afraid to make their presence known.
As I see the present situation, the owners of each of the present sites are in competition with each other and not exactly on friendly terms. I see it as each asking for loyalty to them by their members. In the long haul, I will always be loyal to a single owner and these renegades aren't it.
As I once told you, Darth, I don't care who your friends are and I would never judge you by what they do. Having never had any dealings with you, I would expect the two of us to be neutral equals each time our paths cross on the Internet. I joined this forum initially because one member stated that she would leave if I ever joined. I joined, she stayed, we're friends!
Good luck with your new forum. It will succeed or fail without my presence. Feel free to allow discussions about me or my contributions to the tomato-growing community, either negative or positive. Our family shield should have had a motto long before Reggie Jackson said it. "The only person I have to impress is myself."

For what it's worth, I think the more forums, the better. People can pick and choose where they participate, but honestly, I think about 70% of the gardening/growing forums I've ever visited began because someone was pissed off at someone else, and decided to build their own. And certain forums seem to grow out of a cult of personality (for example: iDig, Tomatoville - Church of Jere, Church of Carolyn, respectively). It is what it is. However, I see no reason NOT to start a new forum, and see where it takes you.

Okay, I have PSR 37 in the field. There's 6 plants, and they all look different. Some have potato leaves. One has sooooo many flowers on it. I'd post pictures here, but I can't figure out how to do it.
Some one educate me please.
So a few questions. End of season, do I save some from each, or if I save tomatoes from just one vine, will it keep it's variability? I only have enough anti-pollination cages to put one on each variety (of the 15 different tomatoes I have in the field) so I can't spare one for each of the 6 kinds of PSR 37.

It sounds like PSR 37 is an F2 or F3 that has had almost no stabilization = If you want to chase something in particular in the variations you have, only save seed from those that have the trait you are after. If you want to keep all options open for the future, save seed from each plant, and keep track from the start = you are looking at several years of picking and choosing, to get something in particular out of the variations you have now. As for crossing, the odds are pretty much against it = perhaps 3 or 4 %. Since you are dealing with such an unstable start anyway, I don't think you could tell if you had a cross.

Grunt, Thanks! I'd say something about the great seeds you sent me, but shhh they aren't the kind of seeds I can talk about on this forum.
I will let the tomatoes run rampant and figure out what's good.

PSR 37 was true to the task. they came on early and the fruit was very uniform. flavor was good too. good for market. do you have any pics of these 6 plants? i might be able to see if i can pick the real PSR 37 out! ;D also, i can send you some 'true' PRS 37 seed if you want.

Bunkie, we are on the same page!
I need a replacement for Early Girl. So I found the PSR 37. Alas it's too late for seeds this year, but if you send me 6 when you get your rice it would be nice. I'd post a picture, but I cant figure out how it works on the tomato forum. This forum is set up differently than all the rest.
I'll pm you the photos. One of them looks like a cherry! It's got dangles of flowers. But...where's the tomatoes?
