but... but... WE NEED YOU PENNY! ok, so don't feel guilty. There are a few months to put it together and even without a business, it's not the easiest thing in the world to get away. On the other hand, you just gotta get away once in awhile. Think of how refreshed you'll be when you return. Not to mention all the new ideas and experiences you'll have to enrich your live and the lives of the people you are with day to day. No matter if you come or not, we love ya!

I did run it past Brad and he said that it would all depend on what he has on the go at that time, with work..........as you said, we have some time to work on it and get it together.
The last holiday we had was 2 years ago this month, when we went to New York City with the girls to do some shopping for the week.....so we are more then due!

For Dan & Jim, there is also pheasant hunting at our friends game farm, though that is kind of expensive too. For Jo, I have a loom that was my great grandmothers, though it is in pieces right now. I was lucky to get it, my cousin 'owned' it, I thought he had taken it with him, but it was still at our uncle's house. He's gone now, they needed to clean out his place, so my cousin said I could have it if I wanted it. Of course I wanted it!!! Problem is, it is about 6 ft wide. Maybe I could set it up if you wanted to see it. Just hope they wrote down really good instructions when they were taking that thing apart. The mushrooms would be great too. Alan, that would be great with the ginseng. Penny, I hope you can make it, but I do understand that it is difficult timewise. Johno, I hope that something works out so you can make it. I would love to meet you. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Karen, the loom would be really cool. I'm hoping that Mike will be able to make me one out of a cherry tree that we had to fell this past season. That is a project that is a few years away though. For now, I need to find cards to clean and comb the fibers before they can be used for spinning. Any chance you or someone else has something like that hanging out that you might want to trade or sell?
Which brings us to another potential activity, shelling corn, pulling seed from cotton, or some of the other tedious tasks that come along with harvest. We could have some contests for those activities. That could teach us some "best practices" as well as lending a hand to the person supplying the material for processing.
Also, some lectures about processing would be pretty cool. For example, I figured that I could string and hang my lovely peppers and they would dry and the seed would be saved inside the peppers. I hung the strings from the fireplace mantle and kept a fan blowing on them to help out. Then, went to use a few and they had mold growing inside. Couldn't tell from the outside, but the inside was all cottony mold. I was brokenhearted!

When our boys were that age we traveled 2000 miles round trip, every year, from California to Oregon/Idaho for family reunion. ::laughing:: We all went to a local festival this past Saturday and we were shocked when Tommy, our youngest who went when he was newborn, 1 and 2 years old began to recount his memories of the trip. One thing he remembers specifically is that when we went up and down mountains, when we went around curves, we would all holler "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" till the road would go straight and we would say "STOP". We did that all the way up, and all the way down. The kids LOVED it! Now, 4 years later, they remember it! Amazing. ********** MJC, thanks for the hint! I'll certainly do that this year! ********** I would give my right arm, or at least a few loaves of homemade bread for hand made shoes or some equipment and/or lessons on how to make shoes myself.

Shoot Bunkie! I did find one good link but I didn't keep it! ahhh! Here it is! ShoeSchool.com. I'm just sick and tired of pouring out cash for kids shoes that are NOTHING but junk! Even when you buy expensive brands like Van's and others. My babies have holes in their socks and holes in their feet from this garbage. Why? Because we (as a society not as individuals obviously) are willing to sacrifice our children's feet to such garbage! ummm... Lav... Should I move this to the Rant section?
