The weirdest thing ever, the eggplant is starting to re-sprout after that last frost. I'm almost tempted to cover this bed and see if it would keep going. I got through processing all of the Italian type eggplants today, tomorrow the Asian types. The Black Beauty this year were huge! And I was very very impressed with the Asian eggplant which just kept coming and coming. It's a messy process. Attachments:

2012 I grew Diamond, Rosa Bianca, Viserba, Pingtung and Long Purple. Also the pumpkin pepper. We don't really eat eggplant except in baba ghanoush so I can't say which is best. I think Rosa Bianca sells best. I am adding Prosperosa this year.

You gotta get into braised eggplant and grilled eggplant! Yummers! Baba ghanoush is great, but so much more trouble.

What sort of eggplant is that stuffed curry done with?

Usually the longish dark skinned ones. I've had the dish a number of times and they seem to prefer eggplants about 8 to 10" long.

I've seen something similar before. I take it that like tomatoes, if the leaves on the stem (but not the stem or part of the stem) are killed, they will resprout. Early frosts only touched the outer leaves of my eggplants this year. The inner leaves and stems were still alive.

Ping Tung is the best I have grown in the subtropics. The fruit are so sweet and thin skinned, and the plants are prolific even under less than ideal conditions.
