In many Asian countries as well as in Mexico watermelon seeds are eaten. Has anyone done this? I hear they are high in protein and lipid content. A good example is the MALALI an Israeli watermelon.that grows in dry land areas with bright sun. www.rangeviewseeds.com.au/product.php?productid=17248
The watermelon described here has many seeds in small fruits adapted for short summers. My understanding is that the seeds were valued as much as the fruit. These are believed to have been introduced from Spanish trading centuries ago. www.furtrade.org/4heirg.html Oil from seeds has been valued in cooking.
