Hi there, longhorngardens. Welcome. The last two years, Lee Valley has had the free shipping event in March. Sometimes in June, September and December. Wouldn't hurt to sign up on their website to get the announcement if they offer that free shipping again. Lee Valley Tools

I am ordering the digging fork and the digging spade. I want to order a broadfork as well, but I can't decide who makes the best one out of the many places that are now manufacturing them.

Does anyone have any experience with those ergonomic handles? They look like a gimmick to me. I've had very good luck with my Claringdon Forge forks. Got them on clearance from Johnny's a few years ago.
Unfortunately Lee Valley has discontinued my favorite hoe. Glad I bought 10 of them before they were gone. They are still selling the full sized Japanese hoe, but I object to paying shipping for a handle. I wish there was a tool manufacturer that would just sell you the metal and let you handle it yourself.

Next time, we're in Toronto, we could pick up the hoe, take the handle off it, and ship it to you. You interested??

thanks MikeH but I don't need you to do that. I have lots of the smaller size, enough to last me for years, and I could actually pick one up at Lee Valley myself if it came to that. We make a run up to Toronto every August to pick up strawberry tips.
