Of course blender would say that, the only talent that magazine has is as a toilet paper substitute, bunch of pretentious 50 cent loving f-ers......
Sorry, Had to rant for a second
The only lyric I ever need to prove Rush and Neil are humans with big hearst and that Neil is a great lyricist follows:
Nobody’s HeroWords by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
I knew he was different, in his sexuality I went to his parties, as a straight minority It never seemed a threat to my masculinity He only introduced me to a wider reality
As the years went by, we drifted apart When I heard that he was gone I felt a shadow cross my heart But he’s nobody’s ---
Hero --- saves a drowning child Cures a wasting disease Hero --- lands the crippled airplane Solves great mysteries
Hero --- not the handsome actor Who plays a hero’s role Hero --- not the glamor girl Who’d love to sell her soul If anybody’s buying Nobody’s hero
I didn’t know the girl, but I knew her family All their lives were shattered In a nightmare of brutality They try to carry on, try to bear the agony Try to hold some faith In the goodness of humanity
As the years went by, we drifted apart When I heard that she was gone I felt a shadow cross my heart But she’s nobody’s ---
Hero --- the voice of reason Against the howling mob Hero --- the pride of purpose In the unrewarding job
Hero --- not the champion player Who plays the perfect game Not the glamor boy Who loves to sell his name Everybody’s buying Nobody’s hero
As the years went by, we drifted apart When I heard that you were gone I felt a shadow cross my heart
Hero
Thanks for the link blue and don't let anybody fool you a dis-proportionate majority of great bands and actors are from Canada, and blender can blow their critisizm out their A**
By the way, I hate Sting, but even moreso I hate Creed and Scott Stapp, pretentious bastards.

I honestly have no clue who Creed or Scott Stapp are?? Guess I should go back to watching MTV and MuchMusic at nights instead of hanging out on here? And although I like some of Sting's music, I must admit that the Doodoodada thingie came immediately to mind when I heard about this Worst list. But in defense of Neil Peart, when I googled to find the article on the list, this is what I found!!! www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Neil_Peart.html

Which album is 'Nobody's Hero' on? I can't believe there's a RUSH song I'm not familiar with!
I think I'd sooner take Drummer World's word on the best drummer in the world than that of some rag I've never heard of...

Creed blows. While Rush has had some great songs, I have to say they do cross the line into outright goofiness, too. All long historied, great bands do. And poor Rush - their biggest years were right when rock was at it's ridiculous heights of sci/fi fantasy overblown goofiness. The stage shows were testaments to the glory of the laser light! I saw them several times live, and great drummer or not, if I never sit through another 20 minute drum solo by Neil Peart, it'll be too soon. But for sure, Creed blows. I'd take Rush over Creed every time. Deep Purple did a great show, too. And Yes, Asia and Roger Waters were all in love with the lasers, and guilty of some crap lyrics as well.
(By the way - secretly, my favorite Geddy Lee vehicle was when he did the "Take Off... To The Great White North" cameo on the Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas album for their Bob and Doug MacKenzie skits. A beauty way to go, eh?)

Nobody's Hero is on the Counterparts album which is a great album.
I'll admit, Rush had some crap stuff, exspecially in the mid to late 80's but other than that they are just an all around great band.
Blue, I hope I didn't offend you with the sting thing.
Your not missing anything at all with creed though. Trust me.
If you guys do want to hear an insanely talented band and musician that I have had the pleasure of playing music with and doing album engineering and playing guitar then check out:
Days of the New-They were a huge band at one point in time, even opening for Metallica on their first tour when they were all 17 and 18 year olds.
My tenure didn't start till a bit later, slightly before Travis was on the show Intervention.

No offense taken, lol, I don't even have any of his albums. But I do enjoy watching his performances on the tube when I happen across one.

No offense intended BLRH but I think Sting should be named Stink. I personally hate him and everything he has ever recorded. There are so many much better artists, IMHO.

I think that Sting wrote some losers, but he wrote some good stuff too. "I Can't Stand Losing (You)" was a great song. Hey even McCartney wrote some crap- ever hear the song "C-Moon" when he had Wings? lol

I've been known to listen to Bizkit, especially while driving - that's some good traffic music!
I think Creed blows because they ripped off so many other bands, and are almost completely unoriginal. Then Brian Marshall went on the End (a radio station in Seattle) and said Pearl Jam sucked, while Scott Stapp is an obvious (and most likely intentional) Eddie Vedder vocal clone.
Now, I'm not a huge PJ fan, either, but jeez - recognize your influences for what they are, especially when you've adopted a post-grunge commercial sound!
But you know? We all have to listen to what moves us personally. Music is SO subjective, that I would never tell someone not to listen to something if they like it. The exception, of course, is that I won't let my kids listen to the bulls**t top 40 manufactured stuff, like Britney Spears. Not that they want to. Their current faves are Green Day and the Cure. They dig Nickelback, too (my nod to keeping the thread on Canadian music, at least nominally)
I've been going back and listening to vintage Dead Milkmen, recently... and now I want a Bitchin' Camaro! ;D

I like to listen to "Lucy" on DirecTV, I'm not sure what channel it is. It's all stuff from when I was younger. Old Green Day, Alanis, Black Crowes, even some Aerosmith in there every once in a while. Patrick

I think Lucy is channel 838. I like 841 sometimes, too. That's Liquid Metal XL. Hard industrial style metal usually... good headbanging stuff. But you do have to be in the mood. I wish Directv would put the talk XM stations on there too. Here in the valley most of our radio stations are either religious or bluegrass, or a combo deal of the two. I have to stream on the computer or use DTV to get anything good.
I'm sure I'll eventually get dinged for filesharing, too... I load the ipod shuffle pretty regularly.

Letting the kids listen to the cure eh? heheheheh, that could led to bi-polarism......depresing song, pop song, depressing pop song......hahahah
I love the Cure with a passion though! -Alan

Yeah - my daughter, in all her 12 year old angst, wrote the lyrics to HotHotHot and 1000 Hours on her jeans. Been there, done that, still have the concert tshirt to prove it. ;D
But I'm still her Mom, so apparently I'm an idiot. Yay.
