Ok, so here goes.
One thing I think that really hurts the online gardening communities is the amount of CRAP that goes on regarding the forums. Crap like not allowing another forum to have a place to say "hey, when you get done here, if you want another place full of good people and usefull info then check out alanbishop.proboards60.com". I personally don't see anything wrong with that as long as you aren't plastering it in every freaking forum, then again I'm not a totaliterian ruler of Homegrown Goodness, I'm a respectful friend to the community and if anything a Democratic Governer here.
So, as you all know, SSE started their new forums up and I've been posting over there a bit giving things a chance and trying to be a generally helpful and productive member of society there. I did post ONE thread about our web-site saying that we cater to plant breeding, worm ranching, and seed trading, as well as a link to my blog which deals a lot with my plant breeding, farm practices, worm ranching and so forth, all because I want to be USEFUL to people who enjoy doing the same things I do and to be able to share my knowledge and my friendship with them.
Not so bad right? But then I check my messages on the SSE forum and what do I get? The same exact bullshit that Idig and Tomatoville gave me........We don't allow you to post links to your web-sites for goods ro services....blah, blah, blah.
No correct me if I'm wrong, but I wasn't aware that I was selling anything here. I also was pretty sure that both the SSE community and Homegrown Goodness were drawn along the same lines, Knowledge and help from home gardeners and professionals but instead what I have been shown is that the SSE forums suffer from the same Melo-dramatic crap that almost every other garden site on the net does.....Jealousy. What the hell? I could see it if I was trying to sell something or if it was spam but it isn't it is a link to another gardening site which might be helpful to those exact same posters and customers of SSE.
What a bunch of crap.
So, I suppose if this is the way it's goiong to be at SSE as well as Idig and tomatoville then we will just have to hand SSE the same way, by recruiting through PM's, those of you who see people whom you think could contribute to our site and who would appreciate the information we provide and who are posting at SSE, please send them an invite to join over here as well since I'm no longer allowed to put up a single post letting people know about us without it being deleted.
Just wanted to get that off my chest, and if any of the mods from SSE read this maybe you guys can at least discuss puting up a place on your forum for members to post links to other useful sites.
