Hello everyone!!!!I am here in Louisiana!I was so happy to have found this!!I am married to my husband for 23 years now.We have 7 children and 3 grand children.I love growing things!!!!!Just this year I planted squash(crooked neck),watermelons(Jubilee and Charleston gray),Sweet Corn(G-90),Cucumbers(Straight 8's and picklers),Purple hull peas,Tomatoes(Beefsteak),Carrots, and peppers. My husband thought I was crazy for planting so much but with the size of the family we need alot!LOL!I do put them up.It is my passion to grow things!!!!!!Now that I have this place, finding seed and other information will not be so hard.Thank you so much!!!!!!!I'm heading outside to pick some sweet corn and purple hulls now.I'm starting to plan in advance my next planting.I will be needing seed lol!!!

That sounds like a healthy southern garden to me. Swap a few varieties, add in okra and sweet potatoes and you'd have me matched. Welcome aboard!

Wrong time of year. First good greens are usually ready around Thanksgiving. After the purple hulls and corn are done and disked under, we plant turnips, mustards, and collards and have greens (plus meat, from some of the other critters that like greens) all winter, until it's time for peas and corn again.

Mustard greens will be in the garden for the fall along with more goodies!!!We pick sweet potatoes behind the digger of another farmer so we get enough to last us til next year.My mother wanted me to plant some but the husband said no.I'm still the boss though lol!

I forgot to mention this before.I planted several different varieties of potatoes too.We farmed potatoes many years ago and did very well with them.Usda sent me several different varieties and so far so good!!Still need some time though.I also planted peanuts.I'm hoping this much needed rain is going to boost them up a bit!
