Whenever we discuss something "hot-button", for example the Kent Whealy thing, our guest count goes way up? Not to diss Alan's site, but how are these folks even finding these discussions? I've noticed it on Idig, too. In the last few days, when HoT and I were going back and forth, all of a sudden tons of guests were viewing the thread. Who are these people? And who tells them to come take a look? Weird...

I often wonder than myself, I often times believe that they are the "lurkers" on the site taking notes and P.M'ing one another. The only good thing about it is it seems like usually after that happens we end up with new members here.

It is the nature of these forums. When someone sees something they find interesting, or more so, offensive, they contact all their friends to get on line and see what is happening. It is a lot about past issues etc...(you may have noticed that).

you guys are right. The more I think about it, the more I think that sometimes, for example here, there is bleed over from other forums, where lurkers come to see if we're trash talking them here. I'd bet there are SSE issue lurkers here due to the fact that the mods have had conflict with posters here before. I know when Alan had his dust up at idig, there were folks like the illustrious Zman who came over here to read and reported back.

hahah, I figure they probably are forum moderators from elsewhere too, because it never fails that when one of them get's mentioned in a thread here they then sign in to post.
