It seems that you, imgrimmer, are doing more active work on this than almost anyone else, I've heard of...since most of the work done in the late 1800s through the 1930s.

There are others, but you are right most people focus on forcing known varieties to be cold hardy. Only a few people doing active breeding but there are really active ones. Sadly citrus forum is down.

Not many...
Last few that I saw that were 'actively' trying anything were more or less 'selecting' 'survivors' of mass plantings of currently known varieties...which is a fine place to start, but there's more to it than that.

If you are interested have a look at this post from Ilya11 he is doing a quite impressive work.

One of my ichang Papeda seedlings is already about to flower. It is 2 years old. It was treated with Paclobutrazol so it is likely it is induced by this treatment. I am excited whether it will flower again next year. Foto am 15.06.17 um 15.59 by hebamme.lena, on Flickr

One of my ichang Papeda seedlings is already about to flower. I'm interested in seeing what the fruit will be like. Also it would be nice if the early fruiting was just chance instead of induced, but at this point it's hard to say.

There might be a chance that it is not induced as the flower is like on 1-year flowers on grapefruit seedlings on the top of the shoot. This makes me think it could be by chance. Anyway I hope it will flower again next year. I suspect it will be a sterile flower now, but I will use pollen on other varieties then.

If it is a true precocious bloomer, that would be very nice.

I did some cross pollination with C.keraji with it (and vice versa). Can`t tell if it will take. I`m in holiday by now. Keraji as mother should have higher chance to take. But we will see.

OK. Two days ago I posted my breeding plans on tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=26278.0Yesterday I already had some suggestions that are really valuable. Thanks imgrimmer for letting me know about it. Is anyone here from North Carolina?

OK. Some on the citrus forum is in North Carolina, 4.5 hours away from the wild plants. That is a start. Winter isn't a good time to go looking for a certain kind of tree is an area you don't know. Imgrimmer, did you recently PM me. My messages box said I had a message, but when I tried to open it, it sent me here. This isn't normal for the message box.

i feel like i have talked about this before. But i can't find any of my posts in this thread. Was there another thread about frost or cold hardy citrus?
I am particularly interested in the citrus or citrus family fruits from Israel and Australia, particularly the ones with some hardiness. I would like to try and get those semi-hardy species to cross with each other before trying to cross them to other citrus. Maybe they would even be good on their own.
man, that is bugging me now. i know there was another thread where we talked about this...
