There are explanations for what is described without recourse to transmutation. It seems far-fetched, that's all. If someone prefers that as an explanation, then that's okay by me.

Yeh, it seems far fetched but then I come across things like plants smelling and plant intelligence. What do plants know? Who knows? What do I know? Less and less, I think. The older I get, the less I know. |

It seems the less disturbance the ground gets, the better it "feels".
Walk through any undisturbed forest, you can almost hear it working.
I'm with Ray on the woody mulch thing. You can walk on it without disturbing the underneath much at all, and it doesn't compact the soil.
