All pine nuts are edible, most are just too small to be worth the trouble, especially since the squirrels and jays usually get them all first.

A few years ago in Europe we had numerous cases of delayed dysgeusia (even ageusia) linked to the consumption of asian pine nuts. Not really dangerous but somewhat annoying if you like good food.

In my produce market today, I noted pine nuts @$17.99/lb, from China, I'm sure.
