Just introducing myself to all you good gardeners out there. I am a semi retired 67 year old Kiwi living on a 'lifestyle block' of just over 1.5 acres in Hamilton, NZ. Like fellow member Richard Watson, I am a grower for the Koanga Institute which is an organisation committed to saving heritage seeds and fruit trees. Having only been doing this for a few years I am still learning something new every day but enjoying it immensely, despite all the usual frustrations. Apart from my gardening and a bit of fishing (surfcasting) I do some casual work for my ex employers, the Dept. of Corrections, looking after prisoners who are in hospital for one reason or another. That little bit of extra income sure does help. I look forward to interacting with you folks and sharing some good gardening info.

Welcome Rob. I'm across the Tasman but I'm sure you won't hold that against me.

For you Dumont, check this link out www.koanga.org.nz/fruit-trees It could be somewhat tricky importing some of this stuff depending on how strict your agriculture people are but it may be worth a try. You would need to join Koanga to purchase some of these items. As for seeds, that may be far easier. I have only a couple of fairly ordinary apples so not much use to you. If you email kay@koanga.org.nz she may have some ideas and may even have apple seeds from their own stock. Kay is the founder of Koanga Institute and current CEO.
